Pa. nursing home to close; 124 people to be laid off

Patriot-News - 6/3/2024

A nursing home in Pittsburgh plans to close.

The Pittsburgh Nursing & Rehab Center filed a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry informing the state that the facility at 550 S. Negley Ave. is closing. One hundred and twenty-four people will be laid off.

The entire facility is expected to close on July 29.

The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff. The WARN notice was dated May 30.
