Greeley Tribune - 10/29/2021

Oct. 29—Three Greeley-area nonprofits recently were awarded grant money from a Colorado Springs foundation with a mission to enhance, encourage and promote well being among the people of Colorado.

A Kid's Place of Greeley (now known as Life Stories Child and Family Advocacy), Envision-Creative Support for People with Developmental Disabilities of Evans, and Light for Life Foundation International of Greeley were approved for funding this fall from the El Pomar Foundation.

El Pomar is one of the largest and oldest private foundations in Colorado, according to an El Pomar news release. El Pomar contributes approximately $22 million annually through grants and community stewardship programs to support Colorado nonprofit organizations involved in health, human services, education, arts and humanities and civic and community initiatives.

Life Stories Child and Family Advocacy, received $5,000 for mental health programming at Chase House. Life Stories provides advocacy and support for abused and neglected children.

Envision-Creative Support for People With Developmental Disabilities was one of four northern Colorado organizations to receive money from El Pomar through the Colorado Assistance Fund. The fund was activated in March 2020 to provide immediate aid to nonprofits and government entities in need as a result of COVID-19.

Envision received $2,500 for a first Friday art walk show.

Light for Life Foundation International of Greeley also received $2,500 from El Pomar through the Colorado Assistance Fund. Light for Life Foundation works with schools, churches and communities to provide/give suicide prevention gatekeeper training to youth and adults, and organizes talk forums and action committees around the prevention of suicide.

The grant went toward the 'Break the Silence Festival' to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health.
