Purington joins Greater Nashua Mental Health

May 1—NASHUA — Greater Nashua Mental Health is pleased to welcome and announce the appointment of Christopher Purington, as the agency's new chief operating officer.

Purington has been leading community nonprofit efforts throughout New Hampshire for more than 13 years in the fields of education, health and human services and workforce development.

Prior to joining Greater Nashua Mental Health, he was the senior vice president of programs at Granite State Independent Living, where he oversaw diverse statewide cross-disability services.

His efforts have focused on being a strong advocate and catalyst for education and economic equity, which has included building positive youth development opportunities for at-risk students to engage with their education through work-based learning.

Purington utilizes his background in creating economic opportunity to advance services that provide support, growth and greater quality of life for at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, and families in need throughout New Hampshire. He is the current Chair of the Governor appointed NH State Rehabilitation Council and is a former Advisory Board Member for the NH Small Business Development Center. He also won the US Small Business Administration NH Business Champion Award for his work creating innovative economic and career pathways for people that experience poverty and disability. In this newly created position, Mr. Purington is looking forward to utilizing his diverse skills and experience to ensure that mental health and substance use disorder services are available to all who require them.
