The Portset Reader is a voice output reading machine designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This machine reads letters, books, magazines, or bills with a page size up to A4 (20 x 28 centimeters) and a font as fine as 8 points. The user can select between male and female speaking voices with clear British pronounciation. Pages scanned on the Portset Reader can be stored in internal memory or saved to diskette for future reference. This device can read line-by-line, word-by-word, or column-by-column, and it can also spell words and repeat lines. The simple-to-use control pad has 12 keys and voiced information to guide the user through key functions. The Portset Reader comes with integral loudspeakers and a headphone for private reading.
