The Pedestrian Push Button is a pedestrian signal control switch designed to be used at pedestrian crossings and other locations by individuals with fine motor disabilities or low vision. This solid-state Piezo switch is protected against moisture and has a rated life in the tens of millions of activations (20 million minimum). The buttonswitch cannot get jammed or stuck in the "on" position. It has a polycarbonate outer body surrounding the button, and a button cap made of polycarbonate or stainless steel. The polycarbonate material is a thermoplastic alloy blend material that provides high impact resistance, chemical resistance, and thermal stability. It is resistant to gasoline and oils and retains a high level of impact strength at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Centigrade. Because this material does not absorb oils, the switch will not significantly discolor from road grime or pedestrian hand oils. This material is also stable in ultraviolet light so the colors will not significantly fade due to continuous exposure to sunlight. OPTIONS: Button cup for mounting the buttonswitch to a pole or flat surface; spanner head tamper-resistant screws to prevent theft in high vandalism situations; bright red light emitting diode (LED) indicator that lights after the switch is pushed; and an adapter for a round Pelco Products, Inc., button mount. DIMENSIONS: 2 inches in diameter. COLORS: Silver, green, black, and yellow are standard colors; custom colors can be provided.
