Based out of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Tactile (Patent Pending) aims to revolutionize Braille technology. Tactile is the first portable real-time text to Braille converter. Tactile aims to help those who are visually impaired to increase access to the printed text around them at a low price point. They started Tactile from the MakeMIT hackathon and have since go on to iterate and expand on our vision for a more affordable, applicable and accessible Braille device. Tactile is still in development. Its team is currently working on developing a new braille actuation mechanism and text processing method.

Their team is composed of six MIT undergraduate seniors from mechanical engineering, materials science and electrical engineering & computer science. Not only does their team have a strong technical background, but they also have entrepreneurial and business experience from our various internships and projects.
