FirstWords: Feelings is a pre-reading and spelling tutorial program for children with language, developmental or learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. This application (or app) is an interactive game that includes 38 words, including sad, glad, curious and calm, to help children identify and understand common emotions and feelings by matching letters of the alphabet and spelling words. Each feelings word is paired with a facial expression and sound effect to further reinforce the meaning of the word. Children can play the game by themselves or use the app as an interactive audiovisual tool to foster discussions about feelings. The difficulty level can be customized to match the abilities of individual children by choosing between letter names, phonics, and other options. The user interface has been tested with toddlers and young children and is designed specifically for little fingers. COMPATIBILITY: For use with the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple iOS 3.0 or later.
