The Poet Compact 2 is a voice output reading machine designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This stand-alone reading machine is designed to allow the user to listen to any kind of printed documents without having to know how to operate a computer. These buttons and knobs are large and have tactile markings. The first button scans and recognizes texts with high-quality speech output. The second button pauses, stops and starts speech. The control knobs are used to adjust the volume and reading speed to the user's preference when the machine is running. Speech output is based on a new generation speech synthesizer.
