VoiceOver is a screen reader program for people who are blind or have low vision. VoiceOver is integrated into the Apple OS X operating system for Macintosh computers and the iOS operating system for iPhone and iPad tablet computers. On Macintosh computers, VoiceOver and OS X include built-in support for over 40 USB and Bluetooth braille displays, and it can support multiple braille languages. VoiceOver has standard gestures that can be used on a touchpad to navigate, switch windows or applications, use menu items and access applications, and it allows the user to assign gestures to be associated with other commands, utilities or workflows. It also supports keyboard-based navigation shortcuts. On the iPhone and iPad, VoiceOver allows the user to interact directly with the touchscreen by speaking the content of any area of the screen that is touched and providing instructions on how to access the application or content on the screen. Similar to its use on the Mac, VoiceOver has standard gestures that control a wide variety of functions, and the user can program custom gestures. VoiceOver for iOS also supports Bluetooth braille displays. VoiceOver includes built-in voices that speak 36 languages. COMPATIBILITY: For use with Apple Macintosh computer; iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S; iPod Nano and Touch; and iPad. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple OS X for Macintosh; iOS 4.0 or later for iPhone, iPod and iPad.
