SayText is a voice output optical character recognition (OCR) program designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision or learning disabilities. This application (or app) enables an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to read the text of a print document and to speak that text for the user to hear. The user places the mobile device just above the center of a document, double-taps the “Take picture” button, and slowly elevates the device upwards from the document until the whole document is in picture. The user will hear a beep when SayText has detected the document, and the device’s camera will take a picture automatically when focused. SayText will then use its OCR capabilities to identify and read the text. The user can tap the screen to hear the progress status while the OCR is running and swipe right on the screen to listen to the document when the OCR is ready. COMPATIBILITY: For use with the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Apple iOS 3.1 or later.
