---- PROTOTYPE --------- PURPOSE: To design a prototype of an computer display and keyboard for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Siafu is a tactile computer display that combines the standard braille display with a new screen that can present text, braille or graphics in three-dimensional relief. The tactile screen's surface utilizes a conceptual material called Magneclay, an oil-based synthetic agent that has the ability to reshape itself into any shape via a controlled electromagnetic field. Using the Mageneclay, the Siafu can create Braille or raised text on the screen for reading and even pictures in relief. As long as the charges acting upon it remain stable, the Magneclay will hold its structural rigidity, allowing it to be touched without deformation. There is a 9-key braille keyboard and a standard refreshable braille display directly below the screen. TITLE: Metamophing Computer Interfaces. WEBSITE: Yanko Design.
