The BrailleNote Apex, model QT 18, is a braille notetaker designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This notetaker has a standard alphabetic (QWERTY) keyboard, voice output, and an 18-cell refreshable braille display. The display features thumb navigation by line, sentence or paragraph with braille keyboard. Other features include Microsoft Windows CE 6 operating system with Freescale iMX31 processor, 8 gigabytes (GB) of non-volatile user storage and 256 megabytes (MB) SDRAM; three USB 2.0 host ports and one USB 2.0 client port; Ethernet port to connect to computer networks; WiFi to connect to the Internet; Bluetooth 2.1 to connect to cell phones, keyboards and other devices; stereo speakers; and an internal omni-directional microphone. The BrailleNote Apex QT 18 includes the KeySoft Suite of applications which features a word processor; book reader; Web browser; email client; voice memo; media player; streaming audio player; and Keychat for instant messaging (IM). POWER: Rechargeable and user-replaceable lithium-ion battery. OPTIONS: USB voice modem; GPS receiver via Bluetooth. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 0.78 x 9.61 x 5.63 inches. WEIGHT: 1.6 pounds.
