The RUBY Handheld Video Magnifier is a portable magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. This portable magnifier can be used for reading bills and writing letters or checks. It is so small that it slips into a pocket or purse which for visiting grocery stores, the pharmacy, banks, libraries, bookstores, and restaurants. When flat on the reading material, the offers 5x to 10x magnification and 2x to 14x magnification with the handle extended. Features includes a high-brightness video screen; a flip-out handle; a freeze-frame button to capture an image and bring it close for reading; a full- color mode and four enhanced contrast modes (black text on a white background, white text on a black background, and yellow text on a blue or black background). The user turns it on with one button, places it over an object, and adjusts enlargement to his/her preference with the zoom button. The unit stays flat on the table or can be held over reading material with the fold-away handle. The magnified image or text appears in the unit's display window. A carrying case is included. POWER: Uses 4 triple-A rechargeable batteries for two hours of continuous use (also works with disposable batteries). Charging time is two hours. A charger with universal adapters is included.
