The AT&T Stand Alone Digital Answering System, model 1739, is a telephone answering machine with variable speed playback designed for use by individuals who are hard of hearing. Variable speed playback allows the user to speed up or slow down messages when playing them back. Other features include 40 minutes of digital recording time; an audible message alert; remote message access; and a time/day stamp, which announces the time and day of each message before playback. The user can screen or intercept calls without answering, and record messages for callers and memos for personal use. The machine retains messages during power failures without batteries, and has an indicator showing how much digital recording time is remaining. The unit comes with a User's Manual.
