The Eden Autism Assessment and Curriculum are designed as a guide to help children and adult students with autism to effectively learn and provide them with comprehensive, individualized services. Employing a hands-on approach, the curriculum includes practical strategies for each teaching program. In addition, each skill area includes a systematic assessment and flow chart to support appropriate goal selection. Teaching programs are clearly written, with step-by-step instructions, and include target behaviors, prerequisite skills, criterion, measurement, materials, procedures, and prompting techniques. Programs have been field tested with hundreds of students and adults with autism. Teaching programs are grounded in the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and address essential skill areas such as cognitive, self-care and domestic, speech and language, vocational, physical education, recreation and leisure. The curriculum includes an enhanced “user’s manual” with decision tools to efficiently analyze and collect data and choose goals. Examples of daily schedules, teaching environments, and program materials are included along with strategies that work, including troubleshooting guides. Teaching programs are clearly written, with step-by-step instructions. Each volume includes flow charts to assist with selection of goals. Teaching programs include target behaviors, prerequisite skills, criterion, measurement, materials, procedures, and prompting techniques. It is a systematic curriculum broken out by developmental domains.

The following Teaching Modules are Available:

Infant and Toddler Curriculum:
This module addresses the needs of infants and toddlers with autism who are up to three years old. It contains teaching programs for learning readiness, cognitive skills, oral motor/feeding, receptive and expressive language, play, social skills, sensory-motor, self-care, and preschool readiness skills.

Cognitive Domain:
This module provides assessments and task-analyzed teaching programs covering the skill areas of learning readiness, academic readiness,and classroom language/social play.

Speech and Language:
This module includes assessments and task analyzed teaching programs covering oral motor/feeding, receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language.

Vocational Education:
This module includes assessments and task-analyzed teaching programs designed to prepare individuals with autism for adult life and work. This program is typically introduced to Middle School aged students and older.

Self Care/Domestics:
This module includes assessments and task analyzed teaching programs covering the skill areas of self-care including dressing, toileting, bathing, and personal hygiene. Domestics include cleaning areas of the home, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, etc.

Physical Education, Recreation, Leisure:
This module includes task analyzed teaching programs covering a variety of skills in these areas. Skill development in these areas can positively impact the overall development of students with autism by providing opportunities for potential social interaction with peers.

Adult Employment & Residential Curriculum:
This module is designed for adolescents and adults with autism residing in community based living arrangements. It contains teaching programs for self-care, domestics, physical education, recreation, and leisure. It also includes a complete vocational section that focuses on teaching programs for adult day placement with application in employment settings.
