The RAY is a cellular phone configured for use by people who are blind or have low vision. The RAY is a fully functional Huawei Vision smartphone with an Android operating system that has been modified to simplify navigation through the phone's functions and applications (apps) and to provide voice input for certain functions and apps as well as voice output for all screen content using text-to-speech technology. In addition to basic smartphone capabilities such as calling, text messaging, calendar and managing contacts, the RAY includes a navigation app using GPS, a voice recorder app, and an e-book reading app that can access audio books through Audible.com. Color recognition and money identification apps that use the RAY's 3.2 megapixel camera also are included. The RAY has a 3.5-inch TFT HVGA display, and it has an accelerometer, proximity sensor and light sensor. The RAY has a 1 gigahertz processor with 512 megabytes of RAM and a 4-gigabyte embedded multimedia card. It includes Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.1. POWER: Uses a 1500 mAh lithium-ion battery.
