ida-reader is a digital talking book player program designed for use by people who are blind, dyslexic, or have reading disabilities or low vision. This software accepts ePub 2/ePub 3, Daisy 2.0/2.02, Daisy 3.0, HTML, RTF and XML as input and reading file formats. It has a bookshelf feature that automatically collects information on, and displays the names of, the books stored on a computer or on external devices like memory sticks, CDs or DVDs. When a book is being read, the text is displayed and highlighted, and the user can change the color of the text, highlight and background. The user can select a read aloud voice from the TTS or SAPI voices installed in his or her computer. The user also can increase or decrease the reading speed and volume. ida-reader has a text search feature that allows the user to search for a text string within a book and a go to page feature so the user can jump to a specific page, if page number information is embedded in the book. There is a bookmark feature so the user can mark specific pages to return to them later. The content being displayed cannot be copied and hence is secure from the copyright standpoint.
