The Stepping Out Program, model ST-20Q, is an independent living skills tutorial designed to teach community-based life skills in the classroom and in the community to students with cognitive disabilities. The curriculum provides an instructor's guide covering 30 community outings in a fully realized implementation plan. Outings begin with basic skills such as using public restrooms and progress to more complex skills such as using a credit card. Forty-seven supplementary blackline masters are provided in the resource file. Instruction is augmented by the three videos: The first video illustrates the 30 outings and explains how to use the cue set. Videos 2 and 3 tell the story of a Saturday night outing and its complications, demonstrating the concepts of the program in a true-to-life situation. The program is comprised of the Stepping Out Cue Set, model ST-01Q ($49); the curriculum, model ST-02Q ($99); and the Stepping Out Video Set, model ST-03Q ($149). The Cue Set includes 10 bus cues, 1 Ten Dollar Book (see separate entry), 2 restroom cues, 1 Coin Flip (see separate entry), 1 Coin Book (see separate entry), 2 calculator cues, 1 number cue, 2 next dollar cues, 10 appointment cues, 10 calendar cues, 10 telephone cues, 2 color/size clothing cues, and 2 ID cards.
