The Theracane is a nueromuscular stimulator designed to enhance pain management skills for individuals with soft tissue injuries or those with acute or chronic back pain, headache or cumulative trauma. The device may also be useful for those with fibromyalgia or arthritis or who have had a stroke. The Theracane is a fiberglass curved stick with six convenintly posistioned knobs on it and works on the basic concept of trigger points in the scapular region, lower back and shoulder. It also works for leg and foot cramps. Trigger points not only cause pain, but they also perpetuate muscle dysfunction, often inhibiting a muscle that should be contracting. Deactivating a trigger point provides the muscle with the opportunity to work more normally. This can be done with a standard home program that includes compression of a trigger point with the Theracane, a slow gentle stretch for that muscle and a gentle exercise to contract it. Patients do not have to hold the cane for a long time or apply a lot of pressure when they use it. It can be used in any position with only a few ounces of pressure. OPTIONS: 30-minute instructional video. WEIGHT: 1 pound, one ounce. COLOR: Blue. GUARANTEE: Two years.
