NFL Alumni promotes prostate cancer screenings

NJBIZ - 10/26/2018

Mount Laurel-based NFL Alumni, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, LabCorp and Health Testing Centers have joined forces for the Prostate Pep Talk, a campaign, now in its second year, to encourage men to get screened for cancer while at the same time providing financial assistance. The program runs through Oct. 31.

The partnership is designed to increase awareness of the disease and educate men about benefits of early screening by providing up to 1,500 free prostate-specific antigen tests for qualified men at LabCorp’s 1,882 patient service centers across the country.

After the first 1,500 free screenings are filled, eligible men may receive a screening at the discounted price of $25.

To help spread the word, the Prostate Pep Talk campaign utilizes former NFL head coaches Bill Cowher, Dick Vermeil and Herm Edwards, who share their thoughts about prostate cancer and why early detection is vital to help catch the disease before it spreads. Prostate cancer affects one in nine men (one in six black men). Copyright 2018 BridgeTower Media. All Rights Reserved.
