BRIEF: Estate of deceased Bethalto woman files suit against nursing home operators

May 25--EDWARDSVILLE -- The estate of a Bethalto woman has filed suit against the operators of an Edwardsville nursing home, claiming the staff members and management failed to prevent pressure ulcers that allegedly lead to her death.

Charles Sethaler, executive of the estate of the late Norma Sethaler named Bravo Care of Edwardsville, doing business as Rosewood Care Center of Edwardsville, and Bravo Nursing Home Services of St. Louis.

The suit claims the operators failed to provide necessary care, failed to protect the deceased from neglect, failed to inform the resident's family or doctors about changes in her condition, failed to provide treatment for pressure sores, failed to have sufficient nursing staff and failed to conduct weekly skin checks to monitor the condition of her skin, among other allegations.

The suit claims the pressure wounds and infection were reasonable, foreseeable and caused and contributed to her death.

The plaintiff is represented by MeyerJensen of Alton. The operators of the home could not be reached for comment.
