BRIEF: LTCA offers nursing home training

Dec. 17--Free two-day long-term care ombudsman volunteer training will be offered Dec. 21-22 at the Long Term Care Authority Area Agency on Aging, 202 W. Broadway.

This training, which will last from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, covers such subjects as nursing home law, residents' rights, advocacy techniques and senior issues.

Ombudsman volunteers visit residents of a nursing home or assisted living facility, help resolve problems and serve as resident advocates. After attending the two-day training, volunteers visit residents at least two hours per week. This training is open to all and entails no obligation to volunteer.
