Caregiving for the holidays presentation offered

Hickory Daily Record - 12/3/2017

HICKORY - The public is invited to join Julie Cook-Walker, from the Alzheimer's Association, at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. for a presentation about caring for those with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease during the holidays.

The holidays are a time when family and friends come together, which can be challenging for families taking care of loved ones with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia. Cook-Walker will show that, with some planning and adjusted expectations, your celebrations can still be happy, memorable occasions.

Cook-Walker is the education specialist for the Foothills Region of the Alzheimer's Association Western Carolina Chapter. She is providing a series of presentations on Alzheimer's and other related dementia on the second Monday of each month through April at 10 a.m. at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library.

The caregiving for the holidays program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 304-0500 ext. 7235. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is at 375 Third St. NE on the SALT Block.
