This time, it's personal

Ann Young and Doris Clements, founders of Alzheimer's Community Care Memory Circle, share a history of giving and volunteering for good causes in Martin County.

Now they are joining forces to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Community Care. Young, a retired banker and Clements, an interior designer, know first-hand the challenges of caring for a beloved family member with cognitive impairment.

Young's husband of 35 years is living with cognitive impairment.

"Jim's three brothers left this Earth with Alzheimer's. Now, Jim and I are sharing his journey of daily memory loss. Alzheimer's Community Care is here for us and my personal passion is to bring more awareness to patients and caregivers that ACC is here to help in Martin County," she said.

Clements cared for her mother during the course of the disease.

"My mother passed away this year, at 93, with Alzheimer's Disease. She suffered 10 years. By helping Alzheimer's Community Care in Martin County, I hope to make a difference in the lives of Alzheimer's patients and their caregivers right here, where I live and work," Clements said.

"No one needs to walk that road alone," Young added.
