Medicare for all

The Auburn Journal - 6/16/2017

"Inaction is not an option," said Rep. Tom McClintock in a recent letter to the editor. Yet seven years passed after the ACA with the House and Senate choosing the do-nothing option regarding health care. Since Trump, of course, some have been working furiously to reduce taxes for the very rich, eliminate "insurance options" for millions and blame Obamacare for increased insurance rates.

A recent letter to me from McClintock mentions his interest in restoring an "optimal health insurance market." Actually, how much health care has an insurance company given you? If up to 30 percent of our health care dollar that currently goes to insurance companies and bureaucracy would be diverted to health care providers instead, our national health care could work for everyone. We are not short of doctors and nurses. Let them do their business and bill a federal health fund directly, e.g. Medicare for all.
