Missing nursing home resident found dead outside facility

An 88-year old nursing home resident was found dead outside the facility early this Saturday morning. The Rice Lake Convalescent Center resident was reported missing to a Barron County sheriff's dispatcher this Saturday at 3:34 a.m.

Rice Lake police responded to the report and searched the building as it was reported that she was wearing a monitor that would ring if she left the building, stated dispatch records.

Police searching outside the facility found the woman lying a short distance from one of the doors of the center about a half hour after she was reported missing, said Capt. Tracy Hom.
