BRIEF: Mosaic sets March events

San Angelo Standard-Times - 3/17/2017

March 17--Mosaic of San Angelo will host two events in March as part of National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, highlighting people with disabilities living and working in our community.

On Tuesday, March 21, Mosaic will present "Discover the Possibilities," a one-hour tour of its mission through stories told by the people they serve, their families and Mosaic staff members.

In addition, there will be a discussion on Medicaid cuts being discussed in the legislature, and how they would impact people with disabilities.

The program is set for noon at 5195 S. Bryant Blvd.

Mosaic will hold the "Taking Strides for Disabilities Walk" from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Kirby Park, 1401 Edmund Blvd.

According to a news release from Mosaic, the people they serve are often the quietest voices in the community.

This event aims to inspire others to learn more about people with intellectual disabilities, and encourage interaction -- bringing joy to both sides, and strengthening the community as a whole.
