BRIEF: Veterans Park geared towards the disabled opens at Mosey Landing

La Crosse Tribune (WI) - 5/30/2016

May 30--A new veterans park will accommodate those of any ability at the Mosey Landing in Brice Prairie.

The $100,000 park was built by the North American Squirrel Association, which raised $60,000 for the project. The group, which works with people with disabilities, helps a lot of veterans, Tony Christnovich said, and the group wanted to create a space that would welcome any person.

The project, which Christnovich said took five years from plan to finish, was built on an acre of land donated by Ray Moser to the town of Onalaska. The park will include a pavilion with handicap-accessible tables and a grill, as well as flags honoring each branch of the military.

The park will be named after Ray's brother Merlin Mosey in a dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. today. The park will join other improvements at the site, including an accessible boat landing, fishing pier, ice fishing shanty and bathroom. All are open to the public.

"We serve a lot of wounded warriors and veterans," Christnovich said. "It is nice to honor to those that served their country."
