BRIEF: Hospital receives cardiac care award

Sept. 02--WILMINGTON -- New Hanover Regional Medical Center was one of 319 hospitals in the nation to receive an award for its care of heart attack patients.

NHRMC received the American College of Cardiology's ACTION Registry--GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2015.

To receive the award, NHRMC followed specific treatment guidelines for eight consecutive quarters and met a 90 percent performance standard for specific measures.

"We are proud of this award because it reflects the hard work and dedication of our physicians and staff who care for some of our most seriously ill patients," David Parks, vice president of cardiac and clinical support services, said in a statement.
