BRIEF: Dementia expert to speak in UC Davis public lecture series

Sept. 21--In the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center's continuing series of free public lectures on Alzheimer's and dementia, Dan Mungas will speak on the causes of dementia in older people.

Mungas, a neurology professor and associate director of the Alzheimer's center, is an authority on diagnosis and treatment of dementia.

Besides Alzheimer's disease, other common causes of dementia include Lewy body disease, frontotemporal degeneration and vascular illness affecting the brain.

The lecture is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at the UC Davis MIND Institute, 2825 50th St. in Sacramento. For reservations, please call (916) 734-5728.
