South Hutchinson church gun raffle to benefit nursing home

Dec. 2--SOUTH HUTCHINSON -- Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson is sponsoring a gun raffle to raise money for new flooring in the nursing home.

Ten new guns will be raffled, including a Beretta Outlander, Charles Daly 010, Ruger M77 Hawkeye with scope, Ruger PC-9, Ruger American with scope, Springfield Army Range Officer Elite, Ruger SP101, Sigsauer P365 and CZ75B Matte.

"This idea for fundraising began with some church members who are excited about hunting, so we thought it would be a good way to generate some interest in our flooring project," said Lowell J. Peachey, president and chief executive officer of Mennonite Friendship Communities.

The estimated cost to replace the carpet is more than $70,000.

Tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100, and they are on sale until noon Dec. 20. The drawing will be at 2 p.m.Dec. 20 on Facebook Live. All winners must pass a background check.
