The Olympus WS-801 is an audio note recorder and player designed for use by individuals with cognitive or memory disabilities. This portable recorder has 2 gigabytes (GB) of flash memory built in and features between 32.5 and 65.5 hours of recording time for Windows Media Audio (WMA) Stereo format, between 131 and 514 hours for WMA Mono format, and between 22 and 33.5 hours for MPEG-1 Audio Layer3 (MP3) format. The WS-801 can accept SD cards up to 32 GB. The overall frequency response is between 40 Hertz (Hz) and 19 kiloHertz (kHz) for WMA Stereo and MP3 formats, and between 40 Hz and 16 kHz for WMA Mono format. Other features include a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen, USB interface, five folders (200 messages per folder), a built-in 18-millimeter (mm) round dynamic speaker, and noise cancellation. The "Calendar Search" function allows the user to organize recordings by date and time, and to search for files by file name or date. The "Scene Selection" function automatically adjusts the microphone to capture the best sound. "Index Marks" allow the user to electronically mark when each file begins. OPTIONS: Soft Case (CS-125), headsets, and microphones. POWER: Uses one AAA alkaline (included) or one AAA Ni-MH rechargeable battery (not included). Battery life is 27 hours.
