The Bed-Check System is a wandering patient system designed to alert nursing staff or caregivers if an individual with balance disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, or other disabilities tries to get out of bed unattended. The system comprises a Bed-Check Vr Control Unit and a choice of a 30- or 90-day disposable SENSORMAT. The SENSORMAT is heat sealed against incontinence and is placed on top of the mattress under the bottom sheet across the width of the mattress and causes an alarm to sound when the individual's weight is removed from the sensor. When the alarm sounds, the alarm is registered both in the room and at the nursing station. The system automatically resets when the individual's weight returns to the sensor for ten seconds. An alarm delay of one to nine seconds permits normal movement and shifting of weight in the bed. A hold button enables caregivers to assist the individual from the bed or perform care tasks without triggering the alarm. The hold delay can be set from one to twenty seconds. The control unit offers a choice of seven alarm tones and selectable volume level from zero to 85 decibels. The unit also provides for identification of the individual, last service date record, record of staff/caregiver response time, dates and times of the last 24 alarms, and more. The data can be printed to paper or a text file and exported to a spreadsheet. The control unit can be attached under the bed with a Velcro strap out of sight and reach of the person being monitore. OPTIONS: Wire control unit holster and a nurse call adapter.
