Travel the World with Timmy is a language tutorial program designed for use by children with upper extremity and learning disabilities. This program enables users to compare the similarities and differences of cultures through numbers and counting, words and stories, songs and games, arts and crafts, and languages as they travel to Japan, Kenya, Russia, France, and Argentina. Special features include access to "Timmy's Dictionary" from anywhere in the program to see and hear words spoken in different languages, multi-sensory activities to accommodate diverse learning styles, and an explore mode and a question-and-answer mode with guided and self-directed learning. Learning activities include hearing, learning, and seeing numbers, quantities, and simple vocabulary in three language; seeing graphical representations of traditional clothing, homes, and peoples of Argentina,France, Kenya, and Japan; creating, reading, and printing storybooks about the three countries; hearing and repeating traditional children's songs from each country; and more. Modules include "Sing a Song," "Make a Village," "Make a Story," and "Arts and Crafts." COMPATIBILITY: Versions are available for use on Macintosh and IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The Macintosh version requires a 68040 processor or a Power PC, System 7.01 or higher, a hard drive with 3 megabytes (MB) free space, 8 MB RAM, 640 x 480 or 256-color or better monitor, and a double-speed or faster CD-ROM drive. The IBM version requires, Windows 3.1 or Windows 95/98, a 486 or Pentium or better processor, a hard drive with 10 MB free space, a minimum of 8 MB RAM (16 MB recommended), Super VGA graphics, a 640 x 480 or 256-color or better monitor, a double-speed CD-ROM drive, and a Windows-compatible sound card. Both versions can be accessed using the Edmark TouchWindow (not included; see separate entry).
